Welcome to BooksBloomsBread, a sanctuary for book lovers, green thumbs, and baking aficionados!

Rarely has there been a time that reading was not my constant companion. Sending me off to sleep, keeping me company as I sat waiting for an appointment, curled up on the sofa or walking the dog and sneaking a peak of the new book that came in the mail. Books are furniture, decorations and trusted friends.
Although I love reading, I am not the fastest reader, as I often like to savor the story. It is not uncommon for me to awaken with a book flat on my chest in bed. At any given time, I may have 4 or 5 multi genre books going, again depending on my mood. I admire people that can read multiples books in a given month. But for me, I am more about the slow journey of discovery and enjoyment.
If asked what my favorite books are, I would be at a loss to say. Although I will be posting about some of my favorites and most enjoyed. Books can meet you where you are in your life or take you away from where the real world is at the time. Yet there are times a book does not speak to you for whatever reason. I tend to think that this happens for two reasons; firstly, maybe we are in a ‘different place’ right at that time and just not receptive to the story or any story for that matter. Often, the times what we are living through can color our ability to connect with a book and its characters. Secondly some may just not have what it takes to draw us in. As a lover of mysteries, there are times where the last thing I want to read about is murder, however cozy it may be. Sometimes a book about people - the likes of Rosamunde Pilcher, Lucinda Riley or Marcia Willett are just what I need and feel like a warm throw blanket.
Happy reading until the next post which will be about some recent reads that I have enjoyed!
I do think I am going to enjoy reading this blog.
